Mystic Grave - Doom, Death, Darkness (Independent) - Back
Upon their creation, Mystic Grave set out to create dark music by taking elements from a few different areas. “Doom, Death, Darkness” has a mostly death charisma, with some thrash, and doom elements making their presence known.

The music is rather simple with a few catchy quality riffs. Some of the rhythmic death riffs are pretty easy to get into. There are a number of rockin’ riffs that are pretty good too. Death vocals are kind of static and straightforward, but do have a layered technique at times similar to what Glen Benton does, though its not really anything close to an interpretation.

The group recorded this 5 song EP at RAAKK studios in Raahe, Finland. It took them a couple sessions to complete the recording, but overall it was only about 5 days. Personally I think they should have taken a bit more time, because the result has a garage band feel to it. The snare drum is annoying as hell to, like someone is beating on a big metal pole.

I’m indifferent about Mystic Grave’s “Doom, Death, Darkness”. There are parts that I got into, but it seems a bit unorganized, and just kind of boring. The 5 tracks and almost 20 minutes have nothing new to offer the metal world. Sorry to say, but this is a dime a dozen type band.
