Metallica and Lou Reed - Lulu (Warner Bros Reconds) - Back
If people are seriously wandering why Metallica fans are sending death threats to the legendary Lou Reed then they clearly haven't heard just how bad this new collaboration really is. Before sitting and writing this review I actually forced myself to listen to this album not once but more than a handful of times, trying to get myself used to the songs enough to write at least a glimpse of something positive but that ain't gonna happen. Lou Reed sounds like he died fifteen years ago and was resurrected to slur and blurb all over this project, the mighty James Hetfield does no better with the vocals he added to the album either. Known as one of the worlds biggest heavy metal acts and with a reputation of releasing some pretty bad albums in recent decades you would think that Metallica would finally start listening to the longtime fans and just make an album that is actually worth listening to. With quotes from Ulrich stating this is the best thing since "And Justice For All" is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard come from his mouth, this album is nothing more than a quick money grab for Reed and a band who are becoming a shadow more and more of their former legendary thrash metal status. If you really hate your boyfriend, girlfriend, parents, wife, husband, workmates etc, then the only reason I would ever urge you to buy this album is to play it over and over to them to send them fucking crazy. "Lulu" is not just the biggest disappointment to be released this year, it's by far the worst thing Metallica have ever branded their name among, yes that's right thrashers, even worse than "St. Anger." Who would have thought huh!?!
