Memorial is an extreme black metal band,
that is pretty much in the vain of old Immortal. Their album, "Enter
My Megaron," is seven songs of raw, unredeeming, black metal.
But the album doesn't quite lead in any specific direction, all the
songs sound similar, maybe a little to similar. A lot of bands try
to do this old style of black metal, which is fine, but after a while
the novelty wears off. So this album really hasn't much special to
it. The rawness sometimes gets me to the point of boredom, it just
gets annoying sometimes on this CD. I do however like the acoustic
interludes throughout this CD. The song "The Wondering Spirit"
is an all acoustic song, with atmospheric sound effects. It brings
you to a place not of this earth, it's very cool. The same goes with
the final track "Epilogue." Besides that, there isn't much
I can say about this album. "To Goddess Of Bloodsoaked Soil"
has its times where it sounds good, so you can also add that to the
better part of this album. If you're a fan of raw black metal, take
a listen to this CD, it may be something you would enjoy. Otherwise,
this CD maybe something that wouldn't be worth your time.
