Here is the 5th full-length that Sweden's
mighty Lord Belial
have thrown out at us! “The Seal of Belial” is the most
sophisticated-sounding album in their repertoire so far! With aggression,
comes melody and with melody, comes progression and back again. This
is what this album seems to do. They will hook you with heavy riffs
and pounding drums, then insert acoustic guitar while somberly growling
an evil verse in parallel. The Lord Belial also have some extremely
modest solos and very catchy Amon Amarth-like rhythms that'll suck
you right in to their domain. Honestly, there is no bad song on this
disc. I've listened to this over and over without any dissatisfaction.
The only setback for this album compared to their last two is that
it isn't really as much of a brutal death metal album, but more of
a melodic and aggressive one like “Enter the Moonlight Gate.”
Of course I don't really think of that as a setback, I think it is
what they should've been doing all along. That comparison will probably
make the older fans like this one more! There are 8 tracks in all
and over 45 minutes of superior black/death metal music. So fear not,
Lord Belial are monsters ravaging through the world’s ranks
once again. An immense offering!! For fans of Naglfar, Dissection,
Amon Amarth, early-Dimmu Borgir, and many others among the black &
death metal brethren...
