Long
Winter's Stare take the symphonic sound to a different level.
When thinking of a symphonic sound you can picture an orchestra playing
without anything missing to their music. Long Winter's Stare is a
band that does this, but with layers, not with a whole bunch of instruments
just playing together. The band interjects and withdraws different
sounds, to truly orchestrate their music. Its hard to pinpoint their
sound. Their music does remind me of a band from the NYC are called
Grey Skies Fallen, but Long Winter Stare seems to be more symphonic,
and use many different instruments. They really have their own unique
sound. Picture a band like Sentenced and add some more keyboards,
sound effects, death vocals, female vocals, and a little of Autumn
Tears, put them in a blender, and Long Winter's Stare "The Tears
Of Odin's Fallen" is what you get. "Blood Of My Father"
is a great song, a ten minute epoch, if you will. Following that is
"Neolyth," an instrumental that gives you amazing visions.
The keyboards lead you, the sound effects redirect you and make you
think, just an amazing piece. The rest of the album is pretty much
conducted in the same way, but maybe not up to the potential they
could be at. There are seven tracks on this CD and over an hour of
music. Some of this CD is well worth your time, so if can, check this
out.
