Lahmia - Forget Every Sunrise (Independent) - Back
Lahmia has been in the Italian metal scene for several years now. They started at the end of 2001 as a thrash/goth band and have progressed to the melodic death metal of today. “Forget Every Sunrise” shows this newer approach, while still having parts reminiscent from their beginning.

“Forget Every Sunrise” is a 5-song mini-CD comprised mostly of melodic death metal with thrash, black, and doom in the mix. It sounds of a combination of bands like In Flames, The Haunted, Arch Enemy, and Children of Bodom. Their webpage notes that Swedish and USA death metal, black metal, doom, heavy and thrash metal influence them. So the amalgamation I explained makes perfect sense.

Aggressive and fast paced for the most part, there are several pleasing riff approaches that Lahmia uses well. Heavy thrashy riffs, speedy melodic death riffs as well as passionate melodic death leads. I like the layers of guitars that they use...its keeps it fresh and vibrant. Also included into their compositions are several respectable solos, some parts shred, and a few acoustic interludes. Vocals have a bit of the good and bad. The majority of the lyrics are done with death vocals. There are some clean vocals too, but they aren't anything special, kind of weak at times. I prefer the death vox, but there are some redeeming clean vocals too. Keeping the beats going through this disc are many fastidious drumbeats, including blast beats of course. The fills and changes seem to be more than sufficient.

These five songs and twenty-seven minutes plus will definitely grab some label interest, if it hasn’t already. “Forget Every Sunrise” shows a promising future for Lahmia, I can’t wait to hear what’s next from these guys!
