Kibosh Sibyl Kismet, an interesting name
for an interesting band. The band is from Singapore, anyone that is
an avid metal listener would realize that finding a metal band in
Singapore would be rare. But the thing that is even more interesting
about this band is that they are black metal band. Yes, a black metal
band from Singapore. Some describe their music as blackened dark metal,
and others consider them heavy metal to back metal. Anyway you look
at it, they are an extreme music band. "Sulphurous Domain"
is a four or five songs album, depending on how you look at it. But
these four or five songs stretch to over thirty-seven minutes of raw
produced black metal. Now if you like raw black metal or not, that
is up to the listener, but this was very raw. It reminded me of the
early days of black metal. Personally, I like to be able to distinguish
the different instruments when I listen to music. It is hard to do
so on this album. Kibosh has been together since 1994, and with six
years together you would also think that they could play together
a little better. The songs are average, they get some good riffs going
and then they either get out of sync or they change to a riff that
seems to dull the song to snail's pace. If you could get these guys
into Abyss Studios or to some place where the production could be
worked on greatly, then this band might have a start. But for now,
put these guys on that back burner, and see if they can get themselves
to a boil.
