5-piece band From Montreal, Ion
Dissonance brings a metalcore approach that should be familiar. Bands
like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Cephalic Carnage, Converge, Despised Icon,
and The Red Chord can be heard throughout this album. “Solace “
is multi-layered, hard-hitting, and chaotic. A little too chaotic for me,
it kept me from really digging the songs. Blasting heavy riffs is basically
the main part that got me into each song. Besides that, this is kinda generic
sounding. I want to say that I’ve heard this before, many times. Which
means they may need to find a more unique trait to set them apart. Producer
Pierre Remillard (Cryptopsy, Krisiun, The End) was in charge of this disc,
and he did a good job putting it together these ten tracks. Basically everything
is between 2:30 and 4:00 minutes except the 11:00 minute last track. If
you are into metalcore I would suggest you to check these guys out, it should
be right up your alley. They have played at the New England Metal and Hardcore
Festival along with the Maryland Death Fest, so you may want to check them
out live as well.
