Wow, it’s been a while since the days of
Rigor Mortis, and Immolation
has accomplished a great deal since those days. “Shadows In The Light”
is the new disc from these death metal kings and it continues their intense,
heavy, brutal attack. While this isn’t groundbreaking material, you
can be assured that this is another proficient release by Immolation. All
they know how to do is write good brutal death metal. Within the tracks
you will find the signature Immolation riffing and arrangements, insane
drumbeats and patterns, and deep guttural death vox straight from the underbelly,
all while being technical and heretical. Each track is generally in the
three to four minute range with ten tracks in total and over forty minutes
of their classic death sound. “Shadows In The Light” was recorded
Millbrook Sound Studios where Anthrax, Zakk Wylde, Cradle of Filth, and
Twisted Sister had previously had sessions. There is no sign of this band
slowing down. Immolation fans should be pleased…
