Ibridoma - Page 26 (SG Records) - Back
Ibridoma all started several years ago as the brainchild of the drummer Alessandro Morroni. Over the years, the band has had lineup changes, but the core of the band and the ideals have translated to today.

“Page 26” is Ibridoma’s sophomore release that was released last year in 2008 in EP format. The band previously released the “Lady Of Darkness” in 2005 was also an EP. Musically they are a blend of styles. Ibridoma are old-school sounding with powermetal, traditional metal, thrash, and progressive rock being the basis. Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Rush, Motley Crue, Angel Dust, Megadeth, Queensryche, etc., can all be heard within their arrangements.

Musically they are satisfactory. Many of the guitar riffs are straightforward. There are several rockin’ riffs and some decent solos. Vocals remind me of Geddy Lee (Rush), and a little like Dave Mustaine (Megadeth).

The last two songs are the ballad type. I thought they were kind of boring, though some parts were ok.

“Page 26” could have been much better if the recording was better. The production takes this down a peg because it’s lackluster; could be more polished. Levels need to be balanced better for the instruments. They seem to be all over the place. Most notably, the bass can be too loud at times.

Nothing really sparkles on the disc in my opinion. But with a number of solid parts within these five tunes and twenty-seven minutes of music, there bound to attract some fans. But once again, this is nothing out of the ordinary, so I hope they don’t expect too much from reactions to “Page 26”. Time to turn the page and see what’s next.
