I've gotta tell ya, Hecate
Enthroned have relinquished some of their earlier elements into
this new opus entitled "Redimus". Once known as an atmospheric
and melodic black metal ensemble, their two previous efforts have
leaned more towards death metal. Still hindering a death metal vibe,
Hecate Enthroned have set forth on a mixed and more sophisticated
journey than ever before. I especially appreciate the keyboards being
blended with the extremely catchy choruses once again. Songs like
"Headhunter" and "No One Hears" take on this specific
trait. Some other tunes feature more acoustic guitar, which I am glad
to hear. My favorite song on this is probably "An Eternal Belief...",
which takes me back to the "Slaughter of Innocence..."-days.
Although, Hecate Enthroned have become more blunt in their music (y'know,
their song titles don't take up the whole booklet on this release
and their lyrics are more hateful)... things really haven't lessened
in strength. Rather, the music has taken them another step forward.
We have here, an eternal spectra of blackened music! If you're into
Cradle of Filth, Emperor and Lord Belial... this is certainly for
you!!!
