Hail
of Bullets have returned to take us back to the front with their new
EP “Warsaw Rising.” Fans of last year’s “Of Frost
and War” album will not be disappointed. The EP opens with two new
originals, “Warsaw Rising” and “Liberators”. Both
show the band to be in fine form and would have fit right in among side
the tracks on “Of Frost and War.” The next track is a bit of
a surprise, a cover of the Twisted Sister song “Destroyer.”
Skeptics can rest easy, as this cover actually works really well. “Destroyer’s”
chugging main riff and bellicose lyrics make for a ripping death metal tune,
and if you didn’t tell me otherwise I would have guessed it to be
an original. The EP closes with three live tracks from the “Of Frost
and War “ album. The quality of these recordings is good, and it is
nice to have a different version of these songs. This is a great EP with
a lot more substance than the glorified singles that sometimes get passed
off as EP’s. Fans of the band should track down a copy of this right
away, as the production was extremely limited. If you like death metal and
have not heard this band, you need to fix that problem and fix it fast.
