Hailing from South Tyrol, which is located
between Italy and Austria, Graveworm
release their second album on Nuclear Blast. “(N)utopia”
is black metal similar to Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth. Aggressive
for the most part, it includes mostly melodic black metal, dark metal,
and death metal. They even have some Swedish death elements. Your
head will nod with metallic pleasure and you wont want it to stop!
In addition the CD is atmospheric and tranquil sounding. Dark leads
and epic sounding musicscapes surround this album with a great mystique
and aura. The keys area a great asset and they tie this nine songs
and almost forty-minute disc together. Every song is at least decent
on this album. I think Nuclear Blast had the right idea to sign Graveworm
in 2002. They have produced great music ever since. This isn’t
quite to the level of exceptional, but it’s pretty damn good!
