As a death metal standard from the 90's, these guys once again put forth a typical example of what death metal is about...uncompromising viciousness with death metal screams and growls, and of course brutality. There is also a range of pace...slow, medium and fast. The buzz-saw guitar sound rips forth on this release with a selection of groove driven, slower death riffs. Accompanying the fastidious riffs are the blast beats. They push the extremity of this album up to another level. Solos of a classic nature for this band and bands alike are used throughout the disc. Nothing is over the top, but at least worth a mention. 9 tracks and 44 minutes of death metal are on this release. A few of the more favorable tunes of mine include "Fallen (Angel Son)", "Blood Path" and "Sinners Lust". Everything else is pretty decent as well. Not really much else to say. Fans of classic death metal will appreciated this disc. If you like it fast or brutal there are sure to be a few tracks of your liking on "Dominion VIII". Rating: 80 Reviewed By: Jeffrey D. Adkins |
