It’s hard to believe that it has been around
eight years since Gorefest’s
last disc. “Chapter 13” was released way back in 1998 and “Mindloss”
was released an amazing fifteen years ago now…how time flies! Their
classic death sound nowadays sounds fresh and alive in a day of metalcore.
“La Muerte” is filled with aggressive and heavy choppy riffs
that usually keep you interested throughout. A few parts are a little bland
but the passion in the solos and leads balances that pretty well. The catchy
death/thrash riffs and some nice harmonies help out too…probably part
of the reason why the songs have such a great presence as well. After a
few listens I noticed quite a few parts that reminded me of Entombed, especially
the vocal styling. A couple key tracks on the album are “When the
Dead Walk the Earth” and “You Could Make Me Kill.” Just
about everything else is respectable. I’m sure there are some of you
out there that will absolutely love this disc!
