“Damned” is the latest demo from
the Swedish heavy rock band The
Goddamned. This four-song demo is impressive since they have only
been together since September 2001. The bands goal upon birth was
to create hard rock in the vein of Black Sabbath. They have successfully
have done this with their own modern approach. Rockin’ Metal
would be an accurate description. Yeah, that’s it…a modern
version of Black Sabbath similar to Zakk Wylde’s Black Label
Society; it’s too heavy to really be considered stoner rock.
Their sound is captivating, every song will make your head bob to
the beat. The Goddamned have solos that are very Sabbathy. Black Sabbath
should be proud! Four tracks and twenty minutes will envelope your
senses. “High Noon” and “The Beauty of the Beast”
are tracks that I favor even though the other two are pretty decent
too. I think I’m going to be listening to this one for a while. Rating: 84 |
