Growing up as a huge Judas Priest fan I had followed
Rob Halford's career after his departure from legendary metallers Priest
back in the early nineties. When Rob put together his new brutal band FIGHT
I was really excited to see what they would come up with. From the very
first time I heard the 'War of Words' album I was hooked, I loved it, it
was heavy, it was well written, it was something to could smash your head
to and it had those signature screams which we have all grown to love over
the years! I have always held War of Words up as one of my favorite metal
albums of the nineties and when had decided to release 'The War of Words
Demos' on his own label Metal God Entertainment, I was really excited to
hear some of my favorite metal tracks unpolished with raw sound. I must
admit it wasn't too different musically from the official album released
in 1993 although there are some significant changes in songs such as 'Laid
To Rest', 'Life In Black' 'Vicious' and 'Nailed To The Gun' where the most
noted change would be that the backing vocals had not been added. The coolest
thing about this album is that not only do you get to hear these classic
Fight tracks in their raw form but there are also five brand new tracks
which never made the final cut. Tracks such as 'Dead Man Talk and Forbidden
I wasn't a huge fan of and I can see why they never made the album but I
did enjoy 'Now You Die' which had a somewhat punk feel to it. I would have
liked to have heard a completed version of that track! Overall this is an
amazing album for all metal fans! There is no doubt that fans of Halfords
Solo efforts and his work with Judas Priest will be loving every minute
of this killer demo's collection. The time has come to get back 'Into the
Pit' with FIGHT! Fight's 'The War Of Words Demos' are out now via Riot Entertainment
