Divine
Lust is back with “Harvest 2004.” This disc continue
their success from their 2002 self-titled album. The majority of this
CD is a step up from their previous work and is still in the My Dying
Bride/Moonspell vein; it’s something both would be proud to
hear. The doom metal/gothic metal combo works well for Divine Lust.
Cryptic atmospheres and slow heavy riffs run throughout “Harvest
2004.” This does however get unorganized only when they get
a little too experimental. They should stay with the straightforward
doom; they are good at it. I believe they could become the next My
Dying Bride. And yes, they do use the violin again. Four songs last
for over twenty-four minutes and are comprised of three originals
and a cover of Duran Duran’s “Save A Prayer.” The
cover kicks ass! Doom metal fans should drool all over this. It shouldn’t
be long until these guys are signed.
