The band is definitely of the metalcore variety, but more like thrashcore with their styling. However they have a sound that is familiar for some reason. Bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Deftones, Tool, Brace, Slipknot and Meshuggah all seem to pop into my head. The guitar tones at times reminiscent of the Deftones and Tool, but more thrashy sounding. Many of the guitar riffs are aggressive. Some carry a kind of chaotic element and others have a cool rockin’ attitude. Vocals are performed mostly by yelling, some with a grimace, but not limited to only that. There is also a more clean style used quite often. Overall, the 10 songs are pretty decent. Every track has its own highlights, though not many of the tunes rise above the rest. My favorite tracks are “Reaching Uranus (Part 1)” and “Back Off”. The first of which seems like the most complete tune, and may even have a bit of a radio vibe. On the other hand some parts seem to be filler and don’t have much pertinent reason to be used except for extending the song lengths. “Metaphysical Impact” is not bad for a first album, I’ve definitely heard much worse. I just wish there was a few more riffs to grab my attention. I’ll have to keep an eye on this band to see how they develop because at times they sound quite promising.
