Not many albums these days have more than
a few decent songs and one or 2 really good ones. Chevelle
has created an album that every song is at least decent, with a handful
of good tracks. “The Clincher,” “Vitamin R (Leading
Us Along),” “Another Know It All,” and “Emotional
Drought” shows what the band is up to these days. “This
Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)” even has a few more songs
that I’m sure are among fan’s favorites. There is no use
to list them; I probably would end up with just about the whole track
list on the back of the disc. This album picks up where the last album
left off, with a few changes mostly for the better. Musically the
band as a whole has a more professional sound and has become more
creative. The songs seem to change pace, loudness, and heaviness from
track to track. It might not be quite as heavy as their last album,
but there are many riffs you can get into. That’s probably why
I like every song. The CD ends with an all-acoustic track that kind
of reminds me of Stained “Outside,” but I like this track
much better. “Bend The Bracket” has much more feeling
without a whiney tone. If you were wondering what was next after the
last album you will be quite please when you find out that this album
continues on with Chevelle’s previous success. You will also
receive an assurance from their composition that there is much more
great music ahead!
