Modern hard rock is the sound incorporated
into Bullistic's
repertoire. The four-man assault from Virginia have a number of similarities
to other bands. "Eulogy" is like Alice In Chains with attitude,
"Now & Forever" is a lot like Down or a less technical
Pantera, and then the rest is very much a southern metal / rock sound.
I would say COC, Down, and even Syracuse-based Brand New Sin come
to mind. These guys are very good at what they do. The fusion of hardcore,
thrash, southern rock and even death metal paints the portrait for
Bullistic. Very catchy rhythms, good-flowing solos, breaks & choruses,
simple rock drumming, and vocals ranging anywhere from Layne Staley
to Phil Anselmo to Chuck Billy! This 12-track (including a cover of
Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle With You") debut release
from Bullistic will be the start of something tremendous sometime
in the not-so-distant future. Don't get me wrong, this style isn't
necessarily my cup o' tea. However, you just can't deny such a professional
sounding effort (thanx also to Roger Lian!!). Great stuff if you're
looking for something more out of the typical Hard Rock!
