The music itself is an interesting blend of mainstream hard rock/metal combined with nostalgic electric drum accents that bring you right back to the dance music of the 80’s and 90’s. Each song’s lyrics are delivered with a combination of melodic singing with dense harmonies and hardcore/metal screams. “Pedal to the Metal” begins with a short instrumental track which leads us into the first song “She Wolf.” The instantaneous explosion that results is as captivating as it is intricate. However, I notice that when that initial adrenaline rush wears off, the rest of the album feels bland and redundant. Some songs like “Carry On” and “Blood On Your Hands” are exactly what you would expect after hearing the first song, however, songs like “Move Your Body” seem to miss the point of metal in general. “School’s out and it’s time to party?” Why not just party instead of going to school? In short, the album contains many elements that I love to see combined in heavy metal today, but somehow I expected just a little bit more, or less, I’m not really sure. Good concept and sound but leaves a little to be desired. Rating: 77 Reviewed By: Brian Grefrath |
